Students and Blogging...the Power of Incentive Writing
In this session, you will explore blogging as a method to motivate and improve student writing. Of course, it will not replace but supplement your current writing programs. We will review the reasons why blogging might assist your program and have some healthy discussion about this new trend. "Incentive writing" provides specific motivating principles: honest content, explicit intention, realistic goals, research, serious formatting, publishing, and advertising to reach an online audience. We will also review and discuss some possible blog projects. In the last hour, we will preview some blog sites and learn how to set up and monitor a classroom blog.
